Codarra Advanced Systems is located in Queanbeyan and provides professional services in information, communications and technology based solutions. They specialise in military systems including command, control, surveillance, reconnaissance and vehicles especially on behalf of the Australian Department of Defence. They are also a Registered Training Organisation providing a wide range of accredited courses to the Australian government.
The objectives of the challenge are:
- To provide a hands-on learning experience that will challenge and excite students
- To expose students to engineering as a career
- To develop an awareness of career opportunities in technical fields
What will the students do?
- Each team of students will create their own robotic vehicle that will operate autonomously to achieve various goals on the challenge day
- Each team will write a report describing the design and testing results. The quality and presentation of the report will be used to assist with judging the winning entry
For the last three years, Codarra has partnered with the Student to Industry Program (SIP) in the ACT and the Capital Region Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) in Queanbeyan to deliver an Adopt a School Program ASP. ASP is a Careers Advice Australia initiative funded through the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). Each school receives a Lego Robotics kit from Codarra Advanced Systems.
