EDUCATION

Welcome to the Student to Industry Program (SIP) website.

SIP is a non-for-profit organisation and has been active within the ACT community for 13 years.

SIP works will all ACT secondary schools, as well as many businesses and industry bodies, educational organisations, and community groups, and is committed to providing better outcomes for all.

In 2010 there will be some exciting changes to come for SIP, with many new opportunities being created. In previous years SIP has worked as part of the Career Advice Australia (CAA) program of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). Under this arrangement SIP was a Local Community Partnership (LCP) funded to provide career and transition support and education to people aged 13-19 in the ACT.

SIP continues to work to provide information, opportunities, and a support network for young people as they move from school to the workforce or further education and training.

To achieve this, SIP offers assistance and support to all ACT schools and colleges in partnership with local businesses and community groups to present and arrange a variety of programs and presentations for students, parents and employers.

These activities are designed to expose students to a different industries and employment opportunities, as well as providing information about preparing to enter the workforce.

SIP is happy to tailor each program and activity to suit the requirements of schools and students.

Supporting teachers

Teachers are an important factor in a student's decisions as they transition from school to further education and training or employment. SIP helps teachers make classroom learning more meaningful, by broadening teachers' knowledge about different industries. Having access to industry experts and being taken into workplaces helps teachers give their students relevant, up-to-date information.
