Welcome to the Student to Industry Program (SIP) website.
Student to Industry Program is a non-for-profit organisation and has been active within the ACT community for 13 years.
SIP works will all ACT Secondary Schools, businesses and industry bodies, educational organisations, and community groups, and is committed to providing better outcomes for all.
SIP continues to work to provide information, opportunities and a network for young people, education, industry and community groups. The Student to Industry Program runs a number of projects and activities to fulfil this commitment.
The Student to Industry Program is managed by the Capital Region School to Industry Association Inc. (CRSIA). The CRSIA board of management comprises representatives from Education, Industry and Community groups. See board of management.
SIP is unique because we:
- Have a strong Board of Management with representation from Industry, Education, and Community.
- Have partnerships with over 2,000 ACT employers across various industries.
- Have participation from all ACT Secondary Schools.
- Connect with 17,000 of 29,000 students annually.
- Have had 200 experts mentoring 3,200 students in 2009.
- Have given 50 businesses the opportunity to promote their business and host tours with groups of students this year.
- Network with 250 Career Advisors and Vocational teachers, assisting with professional development and networking opportunities with Industry.
- Currently advertise over 200 full time and part time positions and traineeships, and over 150 ASBA's for ACT businesses.
- Have developed over 60 projects in the last three years that include industry mentors and students, with outcomes aimed at addressing local skills shortages.
- Promote various initiatives through our website and disseminate career information to schools and parents.
- Work with peak bodies and employers to promote career opportunities to young people.
